The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Due Out November 22, 2013

My children are readers, too. If my children are reading, I want to know what they are reading. Over the years, I have read books to my children…board books, children’s classics, the Magic Tree House series, the Junie B. Jones series, Harry Potter, and more. Once my children were competent readers I transitioned from reading to them to sharing the reading with them. We had some fun family reading times with the Magic Tree House books and of course, the Harry Potter books. With my tweens and teens, I rarely read with them as they read on their own, but I want to know what they are reading.

A few years ago, my oldest discovered the Hunger Games. I saw her reading the book, but didn’t read it. I gave her money to buy the other two books in the series from the school book fair. At about the point where my tween was interested in the series, I began to want to read the Hunger Games series. I read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and finally, Mockingjay. I devoured the series. Why had I waited!

My teen and I have watched The Hunger Games a few times and can’t wait for Catching Fire to come out. To whet your appetite for the release of the second movie in the Hunger Games series, Lionsgate released a set of eleven Special Edition Capitol Portraits. If you thought the Capitol costumes in Hunger Games were stunning, get an eyeful of the Capitol Couture. And to Lionsgate released these portraits with different exclusive partners along with ‘clues’ to help you along the way on a new Capitol Couture Instagram. The Capitol Portraits Series featured in this blog post includes Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Johanna Mason (Jenna Malone), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), and Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin.
