Curious George is a character from my childhood. When my daughter was a baby I could not wait for her to be ready for longer books. We read books from the time our oldest was a few days old.
In the Musings from Me house it is never too early to read books! A few books became our go-to, every night books – Goodnight Moon. While a few became our “let’s not read this one again and can I safely put it away so that I don’t have to read it again.” I’m talking to you: Love You Forever with your odd storyline about a mother who rocks her baby and her toddler and her elementary schooler and her college student and finally her grownup son who she has to climb through a window to rock. Uh, and then she dies. Depressing.
Now my husband’s least favorite book was The Magic School Bus Inside the Human Body – not because he hated the storyline, but because the book took “4 days to read” per my husband due to illustrations and sidebars. Not that he exaggerates or anything!
But, Curious George was such a good book about a happy go lucky monkey. I could have done without the pipe smoking and the hunting down a monkey in the jungle and putting him a sack, but aside from that Curious George is a good story. My middle daughter’s first word was “Mon Mon.”

My younger two loved Curious George, the TV show. In fact, it was the one show that a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old could watch together! No arguments about what’s on TV!
When my youngest was about 3, his first movie in a movie theater was…Curious George!
You can imagine how thrilled our family was to get a prescreen copy of the new movie: Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas! We got to see it before anyone else…kind of like a movie premiere in your family room! Saweet!
Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas will premiere on PBS on November 25 (the day before Thanksgiving on PBS Kids). It will also air on PBS (locally on WETA TV 26, but check your local listings) on Saturday, November 28 at 7:30 AM and air again on Monday, November 30 at noon. Visit PBSKids to learn more about the series and play A Very Monkey Christmas game!
