Prepping for the Big Day

How many years have I…

  • hustled kids off to bed
  • run around harem scarem searching
  • panicked about not finding a carrot
  • waited until the last minute to gather treats
  • panicked wondering where the Easter baskets/Christmas stockings are

Answer: Every year!

That’s right I am a procrastinator. I procrastinated on my daughter’s first Easter. Now, she was only 2 months old so really we could have celebrated Easter any day and she would have been none the wiser. But, we stuck to our guns and prepped the Easter basket the night before. No Easter Bunny photo that year. But, there was a whole lot of rushing around the night before. Did we have a basket for her? What about Easter grass? Why didn’t we buy candy for her? Oh, right she didn’t have teeth, but you can’t have an Easter basket without candy, can you? You see how it goes? I can get myself tied up in knots with the procrastination.

Quite a few years later, I’m sitting here at 11:56 p.m. thinking that I should turn off this movie. Walk downstairs to the basement. Search high and low for the Easter baskets. Remember that I had three cute towels for lining each of the baskets. Sort through the treats I bought at CVS. Sift through the stash of stuff I gather throughout the year. Panic because I seem to be short a treat or two for one of the kids. Reassure myself that the oldest will be quite happy getting money after the Big Day. You know how teens are they’d prefer cold hard cash to Easter candy?

Are you ready for the Big Day…Easter Sunday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Passover?
