Review & Giveaway: Cuisinart Rice Cooker

December 29, 2009
By

My basement storage  room is work in progress. Everything has a home…theoretically. The problem is that some items have several homes. The floor is perhaps the worst home for any item. I can lose items in a sea of boxes and bags. I’m currently missing the orange juicer. Needed it Christmas morning. Search Christmas Eve. No luck. Still missing.

I did have one triumph today…the small appliances now have a dedicated shelf. For Christmas a few years ago, we received a Cuisinart Popcorn Popper. Love this appliance. Great for movie night. We all love popcorn. The popcorn is delish…not anything like movie popcorn of microwave popcorn.

Cuisinart Rice CookerI unexpectedly have one more appliance to add to the appliance shelf in the basement. A Cuisinart Rice Plus Multi-Cooker with Fuzzy Logic Technology. I was invited to the #bloggersbrunch hosted by ChildsPlayPR  in New York City. Cuisinart, one of the brunch sponsors, gifted each blogger attendee with a rice cooker. So generous to give one to me and to one of my readers!

Now, a rice cooker was not something I had ever thought about getting. After using the rice cooker, I would highly recommend it. I cooked a batch of rice and so did my husband. He is a much better cook than I am, but our rice tasted the same. Score one for easy cooking!

The Cuisinart FRC-800 Rice Plus Multi-Cooker with Fuzzy Logic Technology is compact with a built in handle. I lack counter and cabinet space so I will be storing my rice cooker on the shelf in my basement as I do with other small appliances. The rice cooker is easy-to-use with set guidelines for each type of dish: rice, brown rice, rice pudding, etc.

The rice is placed in a removable bowl, which is dish washer safe. After cooking, I simply wiped down the outside and inside of the rice cooker — very little mess. The rice cooker sells for $149 on Cuisinart and $134.62 on amazon.
